Description
The Tower of the former Church of St Mary Somerset, built between 1686 and 1694 by Sir Christopher Wren, is located on Upper Thames Street, EC4. The body of the church was demolished in 1871. The tower is constructed of Portland stone and features a south door, along with blocked openings on either side, with the ashlar facing repaired. Above, there are circular and round-arched windows. The tower is topped with an entablature and a parapet, which includes eight tall pedestals that support urns at the corners and obelisks positioned between them.
