Description
Brockley Green Farmhouse is an early 16th century timber-framed and plastered house, built on an L-shaped plan. The front block features an early 19th century brick facade that has been colourwashed. The roof is tiled and dates from the 20th century, with a nearly central chimney stack. The fabric to the left of the stack is from the 17th century, while the right side dates to the late 16th century. The house has two storeys and a three-window range, with double-hung sashes that include glazing bars, set in plain reveals. At the rear, there is an early 16th century hall wing that extends with a one-bay hall, which has been restored to its original two-storey height. This section features exposed timber-framing and roof structure, remnants of an original panelled partition, and a wide ingle nook fireplace. There are two original windows with diamond mullions, and on the side wall, there is a large brick chimney breast with three offsets and a tall rectangular chimney stack.
