Description
Clopton Hall is one of the three manor houses in Wickhambrook, also referred to as Clopton House on the map. This 16th-century timber-framed and plastered house dates from around 1500 and has two storeys, attics, and cellars. The south-west front features three jettied gables, while the north-west front has two. The windows are modern 20th-century metal casements. A gabled porch extends from the south-west front, and there is a two-storey gabled porch on the north-west front. The roof is tiled and includes three impressive red brick chimney stacks with octagonal shafts, star caps, and moulded bases. Inside, the house showcases exposed timber-framing, beautifully carved ceiling beams, and moulded joists with carved chamfered stops. The roof structure features cambered tie beams.
