Description
Colt's Hall is an early 19th-century building that originally served as a manor house for the De Grey family. In the 16th century, it was acquired by Sir George Colt. The structure was significantly altered in the early 19th century when most of the original building was replaced, although some earlier framing may still be present. The current building is constructed of white brick and has two storeys. It features a four-window range with double-hung sash windows that have glazing bars, set in flush cased frames. The ground floor includes a tall three-light bay window at the east end. The entrance is adorned with a Tuscan portico supported by plain columns and topped with a cornice. The roof is tiled and gabled, showcasing ornamental bargeboards and a modillion eaves soffit. At the west end, a lower wing extends, which includes grouped shafted chimney stacks that are remnants from the earlier house.
