Description

This bridge carries the entrance driveway to Little Haugh Hall over the Black Bourn river and is located 120 metres east of the hall. It dates from the 16th or early 17th century and is constructed of narrow red bricks in English bond. The bridge features two chamfered round arches with a central pier, although the voussoirs on the north side were renewed in the 19th or 20th century. The parapet rises about one metre above the humped causeway and is splayed outwards at the approaches, topped with half-round clay copings. The cutwaters and much of the brickwork near the water level were also renewed in the 19th or 20th century using gault brick.
