Description
Elmer Farmhouse is a house dating from the early to mid 17th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 20th century. It has a timber frame that is plastered and features a thatched roof. The building follows a three-cell lobby entry plan and is one storey high with an attic. The entrance is located to the left of the centre, featuring a 20th-century thatched gabled porch and a partially glazed, fielded six-panel door. There are 20th-century lattice leaded casements with two and three lights, along with three box dormers that have moulded heads and two-light glazing bar casements. An axial ridge stack is positioned to the left of centre, between the hall and parlour, with rebated arrises on the shaft. The gable end shows exposed plates and side purlins, and there is a two-light glazing bar casement in the left attic. At the rear, there are 20th-century additions, including a one-storey pantiled outbuilding extending to the right. Inside, much of the frame is concealed, but there is a double bar stopped chamfered axial binding beam and storey posts at the service end. The hall and parlour feature large bar stops on chamfered binding beams, run-out chamfered joists, and chamfered mid-rails. The first floor and roof were not inspected.
