Description
Mary Dains Almshouses, dated 1914 on a stone tablet on the extreme left-hand gable, were built for Mary Dains, the founder of the trust. The almshouses are constructed of red brick with tile embellishments and feature a plain tile roof. They have chevron tile bands and a brick dog tooth dentil course at the gable verges. The building has brick stacks with tile quoins, capped with moulded brick and tiles. It is designed in an 'H' plan, with fronting gables on the left and right wings and twin gables in the center. The structure is one storey high with an attic in the gable wings. It includes three-light casements with leaded lights, tile creased quoins, and heads to the windows, along with elongated tile keys to the center gable windows. The entrance doors are panelled and half-glazed.
