Description
The Church of St Andrew is a parish church with a core dating back to the 13th century, featuring significant later work, particularly from the 15th century. By the early 19th century, the church was in ruins and underwent extensive restoration in 1843, during which the remains of the west tower were removed and the west end was rebuilt, resulting in the current belfry. The church includes a 19th-century south porch and a north vestry. It is constructed of flint, partially cement rendered, and has a slate roof. The nave and chancel are under one roof. Notable features include a blocked 14th-century priest's doorway and a lancet window on the south wall of the chancel, with other windows from the 15th century that have been restored. Inside, there is a fine 15th-century font and the remains of a 13th-century piscina on the south side of the sanctuary, along with Victorian furnishings.
