Description
Nos 12 to 16 on Broad Street are early 19th-century buildings. The main block is three storeys high, while the left-hand wing is two storeys. They are constructed of Suffolk yellow brick and topped with a hipped slate roof featuring wide eaves supported by paired brackets. The first and second floors have three sash windows, which now only have central glazing bars and flat arches. The central window is set in a wide panel with a segmental arch above it. The main entrance consists of a six-panel door with panelled linings, a reeded architrave, and an arched radial-bar fanlight. It is framed by a semi-circular Greek mutular Doric porch, which is enclosed with a 19th-century glazed screen and fluted quasi-columns. To the right is a late 19th-century bank wing, primarily one storey, featuring three arched windows and a prominent 20th-century arched entrance. This group of buildings also includes Nos 2, 4 (corner cafe), 6 to 20 (even), and 30A and 30.
