Description
The Statue of Triton is one of a pair sculpted by John Thomas in 1849. Both the statue and its plinth are made of York Stone. The statue represents the sea god Triton holding an inverted cornucopia from which fruit and vegetables spill. It is positioned on the capital of a circular shaft that rises from an octagonal base. The plinth is not original.
