Description
The tomb and railings, located approximately 2 yards to the northeast of the Church of St Botolph, date from around 1813. Constructed from ashlar stone and wrought and cast iron, the tomb is coffin-shaped with panelled sides and a slab top featuring moulded edges. Surrounding the tomb are iron railings that have square corner pales topped with vase finials. The railings include a moulded top rail and a protective cage designed to deter grave robbers, which consists of a cross made from longitudinal and lateral bars with spikes radiating from it.
