Description
The wall garden, conservatory, and gazebo located northwest of Number 56 on Earsham Street date from the early 18th century. The wall is made of red brick and stands between 14 to 18 feet high. It features brick on end sloping cope, with panels created by brick pier buttresses and a stepped plinth or splayed base that widens. The cope is rounded on the outer side above a band with toothing. At the northern angle, there is a glazed conservatory from the 18th century, which has a conical roof and narrow panes. The terminal feature to the west is a gazebo that faces the River Waveney. This structure, along with Numbers 54 and 56, the adjoining wing, walls, and an ancillary building, as well as the bridge over the River Waveney, form a cohesive group.
