Description
Peacock Hall is an 18th-century timber-framed and plastered house, square in shape, with two storeys and attics. The southeast front features a three-window arrangement with double-hung sashes that have glazing bars, while the outer windows are three-light. A central six-panel door is topped by a semi-circular fanlight with ornamental fan glazing, framed by a wood doorcase that includes pilasters, a keystone with an angel head, and a modillion open pediment. The northwest front also has a three-window arrangement, with three-light double-hung sashes on the upper storey and three-light leaded casements on the ground storey. It similarly has a central six-panel door with a semi-circular fanlight, pilasters, and an open pediment. The roof is hipped and tiled, featuring a wood modillion eaves cornice and three flat-headed dormers on the main fronts. A chimney stack at the southwest end displays a panel with the initials S above NS and the date 1798. The interior retains many original fittings.
