Description

Chapel Farmhouse is a timber-framed and plastered building with a tiled roof, likely dating to the 17th and 18th centuries, although it has been significantly modernised. It probably originated as part of a larger house or religious building on the site. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a three-window front. The upper storey windows are modern casements, while the ground storey has double-hung sash windows with glazing bars. A central gabled porch is present. On the south side, at the east end, a section of red brick wall incorporates a two-storey, 16th-century octagonal bay. This bay features moulded brick arched window openings – two lights on the front and one light on the sides. The west side of the bay is partially hidden by a 19th-century addition. A modern pent roof covers part of the structure. The ground storey room to the north of the bay has heavy, exposed stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
