Description
The Church of St Mary the Virgin is a Grade I listed flint church with stone dressings, primarily dating from the 14th century, with some work from the 15th century. It was restored in the 19th century. The west tower is located on the south side of the nave, with the lower stage serving as the south porch. The church features diagonal buttresses and a castellated parapet, with slate roofs. Inside, the nave has arched trusses supported by short wall posts with moulded caps and bases on stone corbels, along with a castellated wall plate. Notable interior features include a 14th-century octagonal font with ogee panels and a 17th-century carved cover, as well as a 17th-century communion rail with twisted balusters. The chancel has been restored. The church is recognized for its architectural and historical significance.
