Description
Candler's House is a fine early 18th century house located on Redenhall Road in Harleston. It is constructed of red brick and features a hipped tiled roof. A moulded brick string course runs at the first floor level. The house has two storeys and an attic, with seven sash windows that have glazing bars set in exposed casings. These windows are topped with flat rubbed brick arches that include keyblocks. The central first floor window is distinguished by a moulded brick architrave with volutes and a keyblock featuring a head. The central doorway is notable for its fluted Corinthian pilasters, a broken segmental pediment, and a moulded doorcase that frames a fielded panel door. The house also has four flat-roofed dormers with glazing bars, one of which has leaded panes. A brick chimney stack is present, and there are 19th and 20th century wings at the rear.
