Description
West House is an 18th-century building with alterations, featuring a late 18th or early 19th-century front made of yellow brick and standing three stories tall. It has five sash windows, including blank panels where windows would typically be. The south-facing garden front, dating from the late 19th century, has large gray brick bay projections and is two stories with an attic. Inside, there is a central staircase with arches at both the top and bottom, adorned with a moulded key, and six-panel doors with drop handles.
Adjoining to the east is West Cottage, which has a south front made of red brick and features flush frame sash windows, with a central blank panel (one window has been altered to have only center glazing bars, and another has been changed to a casement). West Cottage is also two stories tall with an attic and has a pantile roof. Its entrance is highlighted by an open segmental pediment supported by scroll consoles. There is a one-story wing made of flint and red brick on the east side. Inside, West Cottage contains two wooden mantels, six-panel doors, and an attic with heavy timbers.
West House, West Cottage, and Levlands are recognized as a group.
