Description
The Grange is a building that was once a farmhouse, now without a farm, dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the mid and late 18th century. It is constructed of brick and has a pantile roof, consisting of two sections. The eastern side is the original house, which was one storey with a dormer attic and was raised to two storeys in the mid-18th century. The western side is two storeys and dates from the late 18th century.
The south facade features a central panelled door set within panelled reveals, topped by a glazed overlight. Fluted engaged columns frame the doorcase, supporting a fluted frieze beneath a dentiled hood. To the left of the door is a four-light early 19th-century casement window, and to the right is a three-light similar window, both with glazing bars and gauged skewback arches, and both were repaired in the 20th century. On the first floor, there is a similar four-light window to the left and two two-light repaired casements to the right. The gabled roofs are of different heights, reflecting the two separate builds, with a ridge stack at the division and an internal stack at the western gable end, as well as an external stack at the eastern gable.
