Description
The Church of St Lawrence is a parish church now in ruins, dating from the mid 14th century and 15th century. It is constructed of flint with ashlar quoins and follows a simple plan consisting of a nave and chancel. The west tower is square at the base and features an octagonal belfry stage with two-light windows, some of which are blocked and all lack tracery. The tower has a flushwork battlemented parapet. The south doorway leading to the nave displays mid 14th century mouldings. In the chancel's north wall, there are remains of a two-light window from the 15th century, along with fragments of a piscina and sedilia. The south wall of the chancel includes a priest's doorway and a tomb recess on the exterior. The church is scheduled as an Ancient Monument, County Number 92.
