Description
Old Hall is a former farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with later additions. It is constructed of brick in English bond and has pantile roofs. A late 17th-century side addition creates an L-shaped plan. The building features a porch, two external stacks, and two stair outshuts at the rear. It has two storeys with an attic and a symmetrical five-bay facade on the original block. The central two-storey porch has a semicircular headed entrance that is recessed within a rectangular opening, flanked by pilasters and topped with a stuccoed moulded brick cornice. The polygonal angle pilasters are truncated and partially rebuilt, and there is a stuccoed moulded brick stringcourse.
On the first floor, there is an 18th-century three-light window with a metal casement. The original two-leaf door features moulded cover strips and lozenge decoration within an ovolo moulded frame. The ground floor has moulded brick pediments with renewed stucco. The building also has 18th-century fenestration with three and four lights, all having metal casements. The side addition includes three similar windows on the front. The rear has staged external stacks, and the stair outshuts have long windows with glazing bars and hipped roofs. The main block also has hipped roofs.
Inside, there is a late 18th-century staircase with shaped tread-ends, square section balusters, and a swept handrail. The original roof features collar beams and two sets of butt-purlins, with the lower purlins being of square section and diagonally set. Some original 17th-century panelling remains.
