Description
The Red Lion Inn is a 17th-century building that has been altered and refaced in the 19th century with red brick. It features a steeply pitched tiled roof with two box dormers and stands two storeys high with attics. The front has two nearly flush sash windows set under cambered arches. The central entrance is a five-panel door, with the two middle panels being fielded, and is framed by a surround topped with a box hood supported by cut brackets. There is a decorative wrought iron bracket on the first floor that carries the inn sign. To the left, a cross gable is plastered over a wide carriageway, revealing exposed timbers. The first floor overhangs the yard at the back, supported by timber framing. The Red Lion Inn is part of a group that includes Nos 80 to 98 (even), 84A, 86A, and 92A.
