Description

This is a timber-framed hall house dating from the 15th or early 16th century, significantly altered and with one end refaced in red brick during the 18th century. Originally the vicarage of Saint Mary's Church, it is now a café and shop with an apartment above. The building is two storeys high and has an old tiled roof hidden behind a parapet. It features four sash windows with glazing bars in reveals, each under a flat cutter arch. A modern shop front is present, complete with a cornice to the fascia. A rear wing retains timber framework and a carved roof truss from one bay of the hall, with other framework likely concealed behind later plaster. The building forms a group with other listed buildings in Churchyard.
