Description
The ice house at Ashridge Management College, located 300 meters to the south-southwest of the chapel, dates from the early 19th century and is likely the work of architect Jeffry Wyatt, created between 1816 and 1822 for the 7th Earl of Bridgewater during the construction of Ashridge. The structure is dug into a bank, featuring a chamber that is 30 feet deep and accessed by a passage with checks for three doors. The entrance is set within an artificial escarpment made of puddingstone, with the door recessed beneath a large capstone.
