Description
The Church of St John the Evangelist and the attached church hall is an Anglican church built in 1874, with the hall added after 1881. The church was designed by Norman Shaw and features snecked rubble stone with ashlar dressings and a plain tiled roof, showcasing a Gothic Revival style. It includes a nave, aisles, and chancel, along with south and north porches. The roof is tiled, and the nave and clerestory have lancet windows. An octagonal bellcote is situated on the nave roof, and there is a five-light window with Geometrical tracery, as well as a five-light east window.
The attached church hall is located on the southwest side, and the architect is not known. It is constructed with diagonally-tooled blocks and ashlar dressings beneath a plain-tiled roof. The hall consists of two bays, each featuring a three-light mullioned window, and there is a flat-roofed linking bay with a three-light mullioned window.
