Description

Wayside is a 17th century cottage located on Dunmow Road in Takeley. The building is timber framed and plastered, topped with a red plain tile roof. It has one storey and attics, featuring a three-window range with modern casements and three gabled dormers. There is a modern lean-to porch and a 17th century red brick chimney stack. Inside, much of the frame is exposed, showcasing extensive re-used 15th century timber and a large 17th century fireplace with a mantel beam.
