Description

Hockleys is a lobby-entrance house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 20th centuries. The house is timber-framed, with plastered walls and a tiled roof. It originally comprised three bays, with a central chimney stack. A single-storey rear extension was added around 1975. The house is two storeys high, featuring a 6-panel door (installed) under a 20th-century flat hood, and two 20th-century wooden casement windows on each floor. Originally a single-storey house with attics, the walls were raised by approximately one meter in the 18th century, and the roof was rebuilt at that time. The central chimney stack is partially constructed of clay, with new brickwork in the hearth.
