Description
The Church of All Saints is a Grade I listed building located in Rickling, with origins dating back to the 13th century, although the original structure may predate the Conquest. The nave features a blocked 13th-century lancet window and is misaligned with the chancel, suggesting it may follow a pre-Conquest design. The south aisle and arcade were constructed in the early 14th century and are supported by quatrefoil piers. The west tower consists of three stages; the lower two stages are early 14th century, while the top stage, which has brick quoins and an embattled parapet, dates to the 16th century. The lower stage includes diagonal buttresses and a 13th-century west window. Inside, there are significant fittings such as a 14th-century screen in the chancel arch, a 15th-century carved pulpit, a 14th-century piscina, and altar tombs and recesses from the 14th and 15th centuries. The church is recognized for its architectural and historic significance.
