Description

Bentfield Place is a timber-framed and plastered house, dating from the 17th to 18th centuries, with a later wing added to the north-west. The main block extends to the south-east and is two storeys and attics in height. The northeast front has a four-window range, with three old leaded casement windows. The ground storey has two modern bays. The roof is tiled, with hipped ends to the north-west and south-east, and three flat-headed dormers on the northeast front. A single-storey-and-attics wing extends to the south-west, with a two-storey cross wing at the south-west end. The upper part of the cross wing is weather-boarded. The windows in this wing are modern casements. The roofs are tiled, with a half-hipped end to the cross wing and three gabled dormers on the northeast front. This building is of group value due to its architectural interest and historical significance.
