Description

Newton Hall is a house dating from the mid-19th century, constructed primarily of red brick with red plain tile roofs. The house comprises a central two-storey and attic range, a two-storey range adjoining to the northeast, and a single-storey range at the southwest end. The central range is flanked by crosswings featuring crow-stepped gables, and the central porch and southwest wing also have crow-stepped gables. A small, 20th-century red brick porch with a crow-stepped gable is located on the right-hand side. The window arrangement is 1, 4, 2, 3, 1, 4, with casement windows having chamfered mullions and stone and stucco surrounds. A 20th-century bay window is present on the single-storey range. The roof verges are corbelled out, with projecting string courses and dentils located below. The house features a central, glazed lantern with a swept copper roof. Red brick chimney stacks are present. A decorative, low garden wall constructed of pierced brick with stone coping runs nearby.
