Description
This barn, located approximately 50 metres east of Parsonage Farm, dates from the 17th century. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, with a roof made of corrugated asbestos. The structure consists of four bays aligned northeast to southwest, featuring a midstrey positioned to the northwest. Notable architectural elements include jowled wallposts, primary straight bracing, straight tiebeams with straight braces, and queen struts that have been shortened to accommodate the reduced pitch of the asbestos roof. The southwest end wall was missing as of March 1983. This barn is a later construction than the one shown in the Walker map of 1609, where the midstrey was located in the third bay from the northeast, whereas in this barn it is in the second bay from the northeast. The style of this barn indicates it is a later example from the 17th century.
