Description

These are three early 18th-century buildings forming part of Hythe Quay. Number 8 was later extended in the late 18th or early 19th century. Numbers 6 and 7 present a good early Georgian facade of red brick with a parapet. The buildings have two storeys and attics, displaying two hipped dormers with tiled, hipped roofs to the north and south. They feature a five-window range of double-hung sash windows with glazing bars, and a moulded brick band. A central Doric doorcase with a wooden pediment, panelled reveals, and a six-panel door are prominent. A semi-elliptical flight of steps leads to the doorway. A timber-framed wing extends to the rear, with some modern alterations to the north side. A later south wing is constructed of brick, rendered and painted, with horizontal rustication and sash windows with glazing bars. The roof of this wing is not visible.
