Description
Peacocks is an attractive Regency house dating from the early 19th century, featuring stuccoed walls. It is set back from the main road and is situated in a small park. The north front displays a parapet, a modillion cornice, and a central modillion pediment. There are recessed panels between the cornice and the first storey windows, and the building has two storeys. The main block has a five-window range with double-hung sashes that include glazing bars, all set within moulded architraves. The central section projects slightly and has a three-window range with a tile pediment above. The ground storey features a tetrastyle portico supported by fluted columns and a cornice. The main block is flanked by small wings, each with a one-window range, which includes a blocked window on the first storey and a semi-circular headed recess on the ground storey. The roof is slate, and there are four symmetrical chimney stacks on the central block.
