Description
This is an early 19th century house located in Blackmore. It is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a roof of handmade red clay tiles. The house comprises two parallel ranges, forming an almost square plan facing west, with a chimney stack in each gable of each range.
The exterior is two storeys high. A single-storey lean-to has been added to the rear right side. On the front (west) elevation, the ground floor features two mid-19th century sash windows with three panes in each half, without horns, and flat brick arches. The first floor has three similar sash windows. A central six-panel door, with the top panels glazed and marginal lights, and other flush panels, is topped by a flat canopy supported on profiled brackets; a stone step with two cast-iron bootscrapers set into it leads up to the door. A band of rubbed bricks sits at the base of the parapet. The left side elevation has a 20th century bow window on the ground floor, and two sash windows on the first floor, each with six panes in each half and horns, accompanied by similar brick arches. The rear window on this elevation is notably lower than the front window. Parapet gables are present. The right side elevation has one similar sash window with horns on the ground floor; the second has been altered to a 20th century French window, retaining the original brick arch and jambs. The first floor features two similar sash windows with horns. A brick inscribed with the date 1816 is located approximately 3 meters above ground level. The rear elevation has three sash windows on the first floor, each with six panes in each half and segmental brick arches. The date 1841 is reportedly inscribed in the rear wall.
