Description
The Old Grange Farmhouse and attached barns to the rear is a farmhouse dating from the early 18th century, possibly incorporating part of a 17th-century building. It features a timber-framed structure with plastering and a brick plinth. The roof is plain tiled with a pantiled outshut. The building is two storeys tall and has a cellar, designed in an L-shape with a projection at the angle for the staircase. The facade is symmetrical, with a coved plaster eaves cornice. The central doorway consists of a 19th-century half-glazed panelled door set within a reeded doorcase that has corner bosses. There are two 20th-century casement windows on the ground floor and three similar windows on the first floor. A rear stack and a gable end stack are located on the right side. The back range extends to the angle of the yard, where there are two small barns that are weatherboarded and made of flint. Inside, there are exposed chamfered ceiling beams and square-sectioned joists, along with boxed ceiling beams and introduced 17th-century bricks in a rebuilt hearth.
