Description

The curtain wall to Buckden Palace, dating from the late 15th century, connects the inner gatehouse with the Great Tower. It is constructed of red brick with limestone dressings and features an embattled parapet that is pierced by cruciform loops. A brick staircase on the west side leads up to the parapet wall, supported by segmental arches with brick piers. On the south-facing side, there is a niche that contains a weathered stone carving.
