Description

This is a mid-to-late 17th-century cottage, originally of three bays and now reduced to two, with later additions. To the east is a timber-framed dairy and stable, and to the west, a mid-19th-century brick smithy. The cottage is timber-framed and has a roughcast rendered exterior with a thatched roof. It features one red brick end stack and a later ridge stack. The cottage is one storey high with an attic, and includes two dormers. There are two casement windows with glazing bars on either side of the front door. The dairy and stable are weatherboarded with a thatched roof and incorporate Queen Strut roof trusses. The smithy is constructed of local brick with a pantiled roof. The interior of the cottage includes a large inglenook fireplace and a smaller 18th-century hearth, likely added when the cottage was sub-divided.
