Description

Stoneley Cottage is a late 16th century or early 17th century cottage designed in an L-plan, featuring a hall with a crosswing to the east. The building is timber framed and has modern render, topped with a thatched roof that is hipped to the east. It includes one ridge stack for the hall range and two side stacks for the crosswing. The cottage is two storeys high and has two modern leaded lights on each floor, with the entrance located in the crosswing.

Inside, the hall range consists of two bays, including a narrower bay to the west. There is a sealed inglenook hearth and a chamfered and stopped main beam. The structure features a crossing of two bays with posts that have jowled heads and curved downward bracing. The original partition wall remains intact on both the first and ground floors.
