Description

The K6 telephone kiosk in Great Gransden, designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott in 1935, is a notable example of industrial design. Made of cast iron, it has a square plan with a domed roof. Each side features a segmental upper structure with a crown in relief above a glazed panel that displays the word "TELEPHONE." The windows and door have margin glazing bars, and the kiosk is painted red.

This design was created to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of King George V. The K6 kiosk is recognized for its iconic status and is designated at Grade II due to its adaptation of Neoclassical forms for modern technology. It also has Group Value with several nearby Grade II listed buildings, including No 3 Middle Street and Nos. 16 and 18 Middle Street, as well as Stone House.
