Description
Hospital Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid-17th century, with alterations and an addition made in the late 19th century. It features painted red brick, timber framing, and plastering, with a 19th-century brick casing that is also painted. The building has plain tiled roofs and stands two storeys high, originally designed with a three-unit plan, although the end unit to the southwest has been demolished. There is a single-storey addition at the southwest gable. The entrance is on the right side, featuring a 19th-century four-panelled door accessed by stone steps. The farmhouse has two three-light casement windows on the ground floor and two on the first floor, with various sizes, and an additional casement window to the right of the lower range. The left bay has brick casing and a gable end stack, while the right side has a ridge stack with a dentil brick cornice and a rebuilt shaft. Historically, the farmhouse was owned by Barnwell Hospital in Northamptonshire.
