Description
Rectory Farmhouse, formerly known as College Farmhouse, is a farmhouse built around 1710. It has two storeys, a basement, and attics, following a double pile plan. The building is constructed of red brick and features a plain tile roof with shaped parapet gables and two symmetrical stacks at each gable. There is a deep wooden eaves cornice with moulding and modillions. The facade includes five tall early 20th-century casement windows on the first floor and four on the ground floor, all in original openings with gauged brick arches. The entrance features a 19th-century four-panelled door with a rectangular fanlight, framed by a wooden architrave with plain pilasters and a projecting moulded cornice. A brick band runs along the first and attic floors, with moulded brick detailing on the front facade. Inside, the farmhouse retains original hearths, which are now sealed, a staircase with turned balusters similar to those found in Audley House, and original panelled doors. To the north, there is an attached stable range made of red brick with a slate roof.
