Description
No. 89 on High Street is a house dating from the 17th century or earlier, which was remodeled externally in the mid to late 19th century. It features a timber-framed structure that is rendered, topped with a steeply pitched roof that is hipped to the right, covered in late 19th century red Belgian pantiles. The ridge stack has been rebuilt in red brick, and the left gable end is adorned with bargeboarding. The house's external plan suggests a late 16th or early 17th century lobby entry and two-bay design, although an interior inspection might reveal an earlier structure. The building has two storeys, with two hung sash windows of twelve panes each on the first floor, and two larger windows of sixteen panes on either side of the doorway. There is an early 20th century gabled wood porch, and to the left, there is a single-storey wing attached to the house.
