Description

Silver Street Bridge is a bridge over the River Cam, designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1932 and constructed between 1958 and 1959. The bridge is made of reinforced concrete and is clad in ashlared Portland stone. It spans east-west over the river and features a single shallow arch. The parapet includes a moulded plinth and cornice, with six groups of four balusters and engaged balusters on either side. The south parapet extends at a right angle to create a balustrade for a flight of steps leading down to the east bank and continues further along the west bank in a gentle curve.
