Description
Five Gables is a building constructed in 1898 by M H Baillie-Scott. It features an irregular design with two storeys. The ground floor is made of red brick, while the first floor has roughcast and half-timbered work in the gables, topped with a tiled roof. The front door is both panelled and glazed, showcasing typical Arts and Crafts ironwork. All windows are casements with leaded lights, some of which have heart-shaped designs in the leading. The building exhibits Arts and Crafts detailing both inside and out, although the interior has been significantly altered. For more information, refer to M H Baillie-Scott's "Houses and Gardens," published in 1906, pages 192-194.
