Description
The Crossing Cottage is a small former station and keeper's cottage dating from around 1846, located on the Syston and Peterborough line of the Midland Railway. The building is constructed of coursed stone with freestone dressings and features a Collyweston stone roof with coped gable ends. The front elevation is one storey with three bays, including a central gabled section that projects forward, flanked by two smaller gables. The windows are modern casements, and there is a stone canted bay window on the end facing the road. An off-centre chimney stack adds to the character of the cottage. At the rear, there is a modern extension that has been designed sympathetically to match the original structure.
