Description
The summerhouse in the garden of Number 20 (Avenue House) is a wooden structure designed for Lord Tavistock in 1765 by Sir William Chambers for Houghton House. It was relocated to the garden of Avenue House during the remodelling by Holland in 1794. The summerhouse features a classical design and includes a window that is specially angled to provide a particular view. Full measured drawings of the summerhouse are available in the National Monuments Record.
