Description
Shortgrove Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the earlier 18th century and extended in the later 19th century. The main wing is constructed of dark red brick with lighter dressings, while the extension features Luton Greys, all topped with an old clay tile roof. The main wing is two storeys high with attics and has a three-room layout, featuring one gable chimney at the southeast end and a substantial double-sided chimney. The two-storey 19th-century extension at the northwest end forms an L shape.
The northeast elevation displays moulded cornices, a tall chamfered plinth, and three pilasters, with the one next to the double-sided chimney breaking through a storey band. Each storey has four 2- or 3-light casements with cambered heads. The southwest elevation includes some chequered brickwork and a 19th-century dormer. The northwest elevation of the 19th-century extension has brick pilasters that mimic the main building, along with three 3-light casements under red brick gauged heads. Inside, the farmhouse has a plain interior with substantial axial beams.
