Description
The Turret at Hinwick House is the remains of an early 16th century manor house that was altered and extended in the 18th century. It is currently used as cottage accommodation. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a concrete tile roof with stone gable coping and moulded kneelers. It is two storeys tall with attics and has a one-storey gabled wing that projects to the rear, along with a rectangular three-storey loggia at the front. The turret has open fronts on the ground and first floors, which contain a staircase leading to a balustraded landing on the first floor. The second floor features leaded casements on the side elevations. The front of the building has a clock with the inscription R.O. 1710 and a flat roof. A hexagonal timber cupola with a lead roof and weathervane sits atop the structure. The windows throughout the building are asymmetrically placed casements with glazing bars.
