Description

This house, now a restaurant, was built around 1736 to 1799 and has undergone later alterations, including the addition of attic dormers in the 1960s and a shop front in the 1990s. The exterior is brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a colourwashed finish, and has a plain tile roof. A tall brick stack at the left end features an oversailing course and decorative pots. The building is three storeys high, with four windows on the first floor. There are replacement eight-over-eight sash windows on the first floor and four-over-eight sash windows on the second floor, all set in near-flush frames with flat arches formed of gauged brick. The third opening on each of these floors is a blind window. The attics are accessed via three box dormers with casement windows. The left end of the building has a raised and coped gable. A shop front in a traditional style, including a central glazed entrance door, now occupies the ground floor. The ground floor interior has been largely gutted; the rest of the interior was not inspected.
