Description

This is a late 18th century brick ice house located about 100 metres southwest of Meriden Hall. The structure is egg-shaped with a flat base and measures approximately 14 feet in diameter. It was built into the quarry face used for the stone of Meriden Hall. A short entrance passage remains intact, leading up to the top of the chamber. The ice house is situated within the park of Meriden Hall, which was reputedly built in 1721-4 by Francis Smith of Warwick.
