Description

Akon House is a timber-framed building dating to the 16th century. It is characterised by square panels filled with red brick. The building has old tiled roofs, gabled in form with a plain central chimneystack. The front facade is 11 panels wide and 4 panels high. It originally featured four flush lattice casement windows. Sections of the building have been rebuilt in brick. Number 4 dates from the 18th century and was restored, constructed of red brick with a tiled roof. It has two storeys and attics, a modern doorway, and four flush casement windows with glazing bars set under cambered arches. Akon House is part of a group that includes the Beechwood Hotel.
